Welcome to Liberty Foster Carer’s latest newsletter.
We hope that you all had a good Easter and enjoyed the eggcellent weather?
Here are a few dates for your diary:
Thursday 17th May – Open Evening during Fostering Fortnight – we will require some Foster Carer’s to be here during the event to talk to any potential Foster Carer’s. This will be to give them a positive insight to what it is like to Foster. Please feel free to invite anyone yourselves who might be interested the more the merrier.
Thursday 31st May – Participation day. We are going to Highcliffe Beach for the day (1030 – 1530) and having a BBQ lunch on the beach. Please bring suitable clothing and any games that we might be able to use.
Saturday 21st July – Summer BBQ 1130 – 1600 at QE Country Park. This will be at the Cannon Ball corner BBQ pitch. This year we are looking at a bouncy castle, inflatable assault course and of course the regular ball games. Dietary requirements will be needed nearer the time.
Thursday 23rd August – end of holiday picnic 1200 - 1400 - destination Alice Holt, Farnham. Would be good to see as many as possible there. Bring your own lunch please. Liberty will provide ice creams for all!
Sunday 9th December – Christmas Lunch 1230 – 1530 at Meon Valley Country Club. Father Christmas will be making a surprise visit for the younger children.
Training – thank you to everyone who has taken the time and trouble to complete the on line training, Lindy’s spreadsheet is filling up nicely. Please keep it up!
Respite – Please can we remind you that we do need a minimum of 10 working days’ notice to organise respite, unless in exceptional circumstances. The reason for the length of time, is that the family offering respite will need to organise themselves, plus we have to seek authority from the CSW before respite can happen.
Written logs – Please keep these up to date, both the monthly and daily ones. It is an excellent way to keep everyone informed of the progress of a child placed with you. Please write the positive’s along with the negatives, and remember they must be factual. Checking and altering the details about schools, medication, Local Authority Social Worker, GP’s and and Specialist’s names is also down to the Foster Carer. If unsure where or how to, ask your SSW in your next supervision or call the office. We have been known how to help via Face time!
The next training session here at Passfield is on Sunday 24th June and is on CSE and missing from care. Please be sure to reply promptly when the invitation is sent out, places are limited to 16.
For Foster Carer’s in their first year Wednesday 23rd May there is a TSD and Recording & Reporting session again here at Passfield.
These group sessions help build the family feel of the Agency. They also provide the opportunity to build up a network of carer’s in your own area or with LAC the same age. It is always good to see you all.
